I am searching for my tribe.
I have traveled among many,
And though some have come close,
None have fit exactly.
So I wander and continue on
In my own way.
Yet I know that the others
Are out there too.

Cold of the Sun
05:28
|
|||
Sunlight, cold and bitter
So bright, it blinds the eye
Shiver, ever wander
Searching for my tribe
Journey, long and weary
Wandered, a thousand days
Losing hope, in my voyage
Somehow, lost my way
Shelter, dark and lonely
But here, it is warm
Outside, cold and empty
Frozen, from the storm
Always cold and lonely
A darkness to match my soul
My tribe seems so distant
But they will make me whole
I know I cannot stay here
This cannot be where I die
Do I stay in this warm darkness
Or face the ice blue sky
And so I must leave this shelter
And keep searching until I’m done
And resume my endless wander
Beneath the cold of the sun.

The gods of steam and iron traded blows in ages yore
Bequeathing unto us a world unlike that seen before
Shouldering the burden of ten trillion tons of steel
The shadows of delirium hammer at the keel
No clairvoyant telemetry could have perceived this fate
Nor forces of technology could seal away this gate
Time is of the essence as it slips beyond our reach
Time sublime quintessence we desperately seek
We are the lost embers scattered in the sea
Lanterns long devoid of flame drifting endlessly
Into the deep...
Detonate! A retrograde impactor.
A trillion tons of iron, thrown at the floor.
The crust buckles, as the shockwave blooms.
The sky is red! The sky is red!
The sea is dead! We all are dead!
The sky grows dark.
Out of the oven, and into the freeze.
Where are they now? I wonder
As I gaze upon the sky
A world apart and cast away
Scattered and left to die
...And yet I remain...

Beneath the light of a crescent moon
Slowly ebbing out of phase
As the pale throes of a dying sun
Illuminate the grays
The cold impassive architect
Inflicts wounds that never heal
Tantalized with retrospect
The skin begins to peel
With eyes as red as the dying sun
We illuminate the grays
Against the grass of the folklore
Dream-singers caress the haze
In realms forgotten through centuries
Unspoiled by the touch of man
Expeditions lost but for the bones
Of the fools who came searching for gold
We are but the memories
Of a thousand long-lost tribes
Shadows of the reveries
Coercing the light from the stars

Dryas
04:40
|

Dryas, days of dreaming
Dreaming of the dawn
Starlight, sun so distant
Distant like the dawn
Shadows, dark and ancient
Ancient like the spring
Forest, once so mighty
Mighty as a king
Hunters, always walking
Walking along the flow
Gather, all the children
Children of the snow
Future, days of warming
Warming of the land
Someday, we will settle
Settle and work the land

The jaded leaves of early April
Tested by the morning frost
Survived their nightly battle
They fought or all was lost
Emergence from their slumber
Through the bitter snows of yore
Freezing in the darkness
Chilling to the core
